Prizm III gets class ring to
owner!

I've always wanted to get a metal detector but
was always involved in too many things including my own
business. I closed it last June after 32 years, and in August I
bought a Prizm III just to get a feel for things. Haven't had
much success with older stuff, but have found my share of
change. For my birthday present to myself on May 6, I bought a
pinpointer just because I needed a birthday present. I live in
an apartment complex that was built in the 70's so not much old
will be found around here. I decided to see how this pinpointer
works so I took it out around the apartment. I found a couple
clad quarters, then walking around the front I got a good hit
about 4 inches right next to the sidewalk. Indications it could
be another quarter. With my handy digging tool, I made a nice
rollback of the grass, and with the pinpointer got a steady tone
right up against the sidewalk. Pleased with this, I pushed a
little dirt away with my finger and found a class ring from a
local high school, class of 78. Now I decided to play detective
and try and locate the owner. I had the initials in the ring,
but someone had used a vibrating tool to put in the first and
last name. Really didn't have to figure out what the initials
stood for, had the name. Looked in phone book and found only one
listing for the name. So I called. It turned out to be her
mother. She didn't ever know the ring was lost. I gave my number
and later that night, got a call from the owner who lives about
20 miles away. She was absolutely flabbergasted that I found the
ring since she lost it over 20 years ago. I'll be returning it
to her shortly on her next trip to York. Just the excitement and
amazement in her voice made my day. Sometimes rewards aren't
necessarily monetary. Just being able to do a good deed is
sufficient. I since have gotten permission to hunt some older
properties and am looking forward to that. Very pleased with my
Prizm III as my first metal detector.

 Prizm
III finds silver and gold at the park!
Dear Whites,
I want to share with you the best day of detecting I have had
with my Prizm III. I went detecting at an older park that is near the ocean and
has two beaches next to it with my parents. While detecting the park, my Dad
stayed close to me so he could check my signals with his XLT. After a short time
I asked my Dad to check a signal and he told me to dig. 3" down I found a 1941
Merc Dime. I was so excited to find a silver coin. A little while later I had
found a two piece buckle with a ships wheel on it. The buckle was later
identified to be some kind of sash buckle from the late 1800's by a member of
the club I belong to. After hunting the park for some time, we decided to move
to the beach to see if we would have any luck. About 45 minutes of detecting and
finding some trash and a few clad coins I scooped up a ring. When I showed my
Dad he told me that I had found some gold to go with the silver coin. It was
stamped 14Kt and has a stone that was checked and turned out to be a diamond. I
am so happy that I got the Prizm for a gift and hope to find many more things
with it. This was by far the best day that I have ever had and hope you enjoyed
hearing about it.
